Autumn Colors at the Cemetery Gate

This historic cemetery in central New Hampshire lies adjacent to the original town Meetinghouse and Church. Many of the town’s early settlers lie in rest here on this hill top. Each autumn the sugar maples that have their footing in this historic location glow a brilliant orange, whether under sun or clouds. This image was captured in the mid-morning hours but late in the foliage season. As you can see, many of the leaves had already departed from their summer perch and now, themselves, lay at rest on the cemetery floor.
