Metal vs Acrylic vs Paper Prints . . . Confused yet?

You’re interested a some wall art but had no idea there were so many different photographic mediums to choose from.

Let me add a little bit of clarity to the issue of print media. They will all look great in your home, camp or office. They all have the option of framed or non-framed.

Where the difference comes in is the environment you plan to display the print in. It is recommended you never display a print in direct, continuous sunlight. Prolonged exposure to the sun’s UV rays will eventually fade the print, no matter the medium. Though, today the reported to be some materials that can resist the UV rays deleterious effects if you are willing to pay for the process, but more on that in a future post.

If your intended display area is a bit on the dark side, like in a hallway, the best option for you might be a nice brightly colored metal or acrylic print. Metal and Acrylic prints enhance the vibrance and clarity of an image, making them “pop” off the wall. Paper prints in a dimly lit environment can do the same but only with the assistance of an added light source. In a normal room environment, all varieties of prints will be eye-candy to the viewer.

Metal Prints are made by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, producing a more brilliant and impressive print! Colors are vibrant and the radiance is breathtaking. Their waterproof, scratch-resistant surface makes Metal Prints the most hygienic and durable medium.

Acrylic Prints produce vibrant colors and are paired with polished acrylic for added depth and a high impact, radiant display. Acrylic’s clarity and substantial feel is an impressive way to elevate the artwork and bring the colors to life.

All of my Photographic Prints are printed on a professional, wide format printer with pigmented inks on archival grade photographic papers and are made to last seventy to one hundred years or more with proper care. The prints are matted and mounted on acid free materials, secured is a wood or metal frame and sealed with a backer material to provide protection from air-born contamination.
