After a night of rain I awoke to solid grey skies. On my way into Concord NH that morning I noticed color beginning to form on some of the clouds so I took a detour to the closest high ground, hoping the color would continue to grow. The low hanging clouds and the fog rising off the ponds and rivers created this ethereal scene accented by the last remaining bits of colored foliage.
Autumn on Chocorua Lake
The Sandwich Range of the White Mountains National Forest blanketed with morning clouds, obscuring Mt Chocorua's rocky peak on this early October morning.
Pond Island Maine
July mid-morning on the Schoodic Peninsula of Maine looking south across Pond Island towards Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.
Cottage Hill Farm Sunset
After a fairly unimpressive sunset down on the lake this evening, I packed away my gear and headed home. Cross the top of route 140 in NH I noticed color developing in the northern sky. I started combing through the memory cells for a location from which to capture this second opportunity at a sunset and recalled this pasture on Stone Road, the Cottage Hill Farm.
It was a cold, windy but glorious sunrise this late October morning in the farm country of New Hampshire.
The View from Artists Bluff
The view from Artist's Bluff in New Hampshire's White Mountain's National Forest looking down on Franconia Notch on a humid, mid-July afternoon. Across the highway are Eagles Cliff, Mt Lafayette with Echo Lake on the right side of the image.
Last Sunrise 2018
The end of the road for 2018 sunrises. I found this hill top farm some time ago and had to wait for the sun to come around and rise in the right location. In the next few weeks it will be rising behind the trees on the left and I will need to wait until next December to catch it again.
Lake Mead Rec 01
Lake Mead National Recreation Area is located just outside Las Vegas, NV and is an “other worldly” landscape of rock rising out of the desert floor. Travel east along NV route 167 brings you through many varied panoramas such as this one looking out to the Muddy Mountains.
Pre-dawn landscape from atop Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, Maine. At the water’s edge is the village of Bar Harbor. Across Frenchman’s Bay is the Schoodic Peninsula, recently annexed by the National Park Service as part of Acadia.
Golden Hour at Hendricks Light
Hendrick Light on the coast of Maine is on private property and therefore inaccessible without permission. This image was taken from the public beach just east of the light. I was amazed at the wonderful pastel light this late August evening.
Hendricks Head Light is located in Southport, Maine, marking the west side of the mouth of the Sheepscot River. The light station was established in 1829, and its present structures date to 1875. It was deactivated in 1933, but relit in 1951. The light stands 39 feet (12 metre) high. The two-story keeper's wood house is now a private summer residence.
This panorama in it's native size is 10.25" x 45.75" at 360pdi. TO capture the full dynamic range of light in my Canon 5D camera I merged 3 sets of images that were each seven images wide.
