October Sunset on Meadow Pond

A dirt country road, a quiet pond and a brilliant sunset. What else could you ask for at the end of a busy weekend. Not having to wear a coat to fight off the cold would have been nice. But why would you expect anything else on an October evening in New Hampshire.

Meadow Pond, in Gilmanton, New Hampshire also goes by the name Shell Camp Pond. It’s 145 acres of clean, clear water caused by the damming of Academy Brook back in 1931. I have spent many hours atop this pond, fishing pole in hand and not really caring if a fish wanted to challenge my abilities or not.
